INAL MAMA (English Subtitles)
The saga of the coca leaf is interwoven from what the Bolivian documentary 'Inal Mama' presents as the routes for the sacred and for the profane: the prison of San Pedro and the Guaraní community of Tentayapi. These two axes present nodal aspects of the coca leaf in different cultural spaces: as drug, medicine, exploitation, religion, injustice and instrument of power.
Dir. Eduardo López / 2007 / 52'

INSURGENTES (English subtitles)
Pivotal moments from Bolivia’s indigenous communities’ battle for self-determination.
Dir. Jorge Sanjinés / 2012 / Spanish | Aymara | Quechua, Bolivia / 83’

Internationally acclaimed veteran Bolivian director and screenwriter Jorge Sanjinés (Blood of the Condor) chronicles the long struggle of Bolivian natives attempting to regain the sovereignty they lost at the hands of Spanish colonization and oppression in this startling film. Sanjinés reconstructs in astonishingly daring dramatic sequences a variety of historical events where indigenous heroes achieved extraordinary feats, culminating with the ascension of a native to Bolivia’s presidency. An engaging combination of fiction, fact, and historical reckoning.

Sanjinés founded the production group Grupo Ukamau and won the ALBA Prize for Arts in 2009.
