In association with Sabat Magazine, we bring you a Halloween event inspired by the supernatural stories of these two historic houses.

Part of this October’s Museums at Night, we have an evening of live music, performances and interactive activities to celebrate the darker sides of the lives and music of Handel & Hendrix.

On the first floor, in Handel’s Music Room, a narrative will unfold from performances of some of Handel’s more otherworldly operatic pieces. In 2001, Handel House organised an exorcism to be carried out by a local priest after volunteers and members of staff felt a presence in these 18th century rooms.

On the second floor, Handel’s bedroom – the room where the great composer died in 1759 – will be taken over by the Art Macabre.London’s purveyors of life drawing with a theatrical twist invite you to sketch visions from Handel’s dreams and nightmares conjured up within his bedroom. Capture in pencil a duo of Georgian ghosts at this dark drop-in drawing salon and create a unique memento to take home.

Up on the third floor, where Hendrix lived in 1969, visitors will have the opportunity to feel the spirit of Jimi back in 23 Brook Street for an evening. We will be playing vinyl from Hendrix’s record collection and there will be surprise live performances through the night.

All of this, plus special Halloween cocktails at our pop-up bar.
