The launch of WORLDwrite’s film 1917: Why the Russian Revolution Matters at the Battle of Ideas Festival: Saturday 28 October, 13:30—15:30

We’re delighted that the premier of our film 1917: Why the Russian Revolution Matters, is taking place at the Battle of Ideas Festival at the Barbican, on Saturday 28 October at 13:30

o mark the centenary of October 1917, this myth-busting documentary explains the significance of the Russian Revolution. Humanity’s greatest experiment in social change is brought to life through compelling interviews, incisive analysis and extraordinary archive. This film explores the context, causes and consequences of ten days that shook the world and went on to define politics and international relations throughout the twentieth century.

Crowdfunded and crowd-filmed by the charity WORLDwrite and a crew of volunteer citizen TV-makers, this documentary challenges ahistorical and mythmaking approaches to this landmark event in human history.

Following the film, there will be a Q&A with a panel of contributors to the film, including the film’s Director Ceri Dingle.
