Lunn+Sgarbossa presents ‘Voices of Transition: Contemporary Art from Myanmar’. This will be an exhibition of unprecedented scale to display contemporary artists and performance artists from Myanmar in Western Europe.

In essence, ‘Voices of Transition’ asks how we reconcile individual voices and national context, in order to understand societal ‘transition’. The exhibition focuses on the unique subjectivity of artists in contemporary Myanmar, whose distinct works reflect the radical new opportunities and challenges presented by the ongoing processes of political transformation. ‘Voices of Transition’ is an inquiry into how contemporary Myanmar artists have drawn from the rich traditions of Theravada Buddhism, regional cultures and performance art to confront the oppression of state censorship, providing insight into the often quoted ‘transition to democracy’ of Myanmar post-2015.
