To coincide with Halloween and The Day of The Dead, contemporary British artist Lauren Baker presents Musings on Mortality. An exhibition celebrating life, death and the afterlife.
Named Queen Of Skulls by Vogue, Lauren will exhibit some of her most sought after pieces in this fascinating short run exhibition. The White Light’ – a neon infinity mirror coffin, and; ‘You Move Me’ – an interactive crystal beating heart sculpture, human and animal skulls and other works exploring mortality will be included.
Inspired by a desire to explore the great unknowns in life and death, and resonating with the positive outlook of the Mexican Day of The Dead celebrations, Baker began beautifying mementos of death, to form an understanding and connection with ‘the unknown’. This therapeutic process resulted in an acceptance and a lightness toward mortality. The resulting collection is both gothically beautiful and mysterious.
In the spirit of exploring the metaphysical, the afterlife and unseen energy, an aura photo machine will be present during ‘Musings of Mortality’. Visitors can pay to have their own aura photographed through biometric feedback – a process that visually captures the electromagnetic energy given off by a person – and see their own human atmosphere.
