Crafty Christmas Market at Hotel Elephant

Hotel Elephant is excited to invite you to celebrate Christmas at Spare Street – Southwark’s newest street dedicated to Creative Enterprise. Sip a mug of mulled cider as you browse the wide selection of original artworks, artist prints, illustrations, ceramics, jewellery, and photography.

With appreciation of handmade crafts at an alltime high, this will be the perfect opportunity to find a unique and meaningful Christmas gift. From colourful knitted baby hats by Wild Goose Chase, exclusive illustrations and stationery gifts by Becky Bird, handmade Jewellery by Juna or exclusive ceramic ornaments and vases by Clara Castner. The Christmas market at Spare Street will offer a wide range of handcrafted works that will get you excited for the gifting season. With prices ranging from a few pounds to £100+, this is a great opportunity to buy affordable handcrafted gifts straight from the makers.

All artists and makers showcasing their work at the Christmas market have taken part in our Creative Enterprise Program, which includes a twelve-hour workshop program delivered by The Design Trust. This program is part of Hotel Elephant’s commitment to encourage and support creative entrepreneurs to start and grow their businesses. This program has been supported through Southwark Council’s High Street Challenge.

Hotel Elephant is also pleased to announce that we are partnering again this year with our friends and neighbours at the Pullens Yards. Just 5 minutes walk from Spare Street, the historic Pullens Yards are home to over 50 studios, whose Christmas Open Studios are a regular fixture in our festive calendar.

Throughout the weekend, our café & bar will be open serving speciality coffee, sweet tarts and pastries along with hearty toasted sourdough sandwiches. Our sourdough bread and pastries are supplied by St John’s bakery on Maltby Street and coffee beans are sourced from the Gentlemen Barista’s on Union Street. We will also be offering a wide selection of craft cider, beer, and cocktails!
