This December, terminal illness charity Marie Curie is launching the world’s first memory-powered Christmas tree. The tree will bring to life the work the charity does in helping families spend Christmas together so they can make special memories with their loved ones. The fairy lights on the tree are powered by people sharing their memories on Twitter and Instagram using #LightUpXmas, shining brighter as more posts are shared.
This visual spectacle, located in front of the London Eye on the Southbank, from Monday 4 until Sunday 17 December, serves as an important reminder of the work Marie Curie does providing care and support to people living with a terminal illness, some of whom will trying to enjoy what might be their last Christmas with their family this year.
Members of the public have until Sunday 17 December to visit the memory-powered Christmas tree, where they can see the lights in action and also make a contactless donation to Marie Curie. Those who are unable to visit in person can still show their support by posting on Twitter or Instagram using #LightUpXmas.
