For well over 40 years bass player David Silk has been running and hosting an exciting array of unique jazz-based events with a wide and varied roster of musicians and artists. Tonight he will transform Mycenae House - a former convent – into a fabulous jazz club with great acoustics and a stunning grand piano (kindly donated by Markson Pianos). Star guests include Earl Okin, Sarah Bolter, Ineza and Munde Punjab De Banghra Group. Acclaimed singer/songwriter Earl Okin has successfully combined musical genius and comedy, and delights audiences not only in London’s premier jazz clubs but all over the world – including the famous jazz club Birdland in New York – and is renowned for his vocal-trumpet solos! In addition, he is probably the finest performer of Bossa Nova outside of Latin America.
Saxophonist/flautist Sarah Bolter has worked with many well-known singers such as Tina May and Louise Clare Marshall (Jools Holland Band), and has performed at prestigious venues including the IOW Jazz Festival, Newport Jazz Festival, Pizza Express London, and played in the pit of many West End Musicals. Versatile jazz vocalist Ineza has a unique soulful sound and breathes new life into old jazz standards with her original interpretations. There will also be an exciting performance of traditional Bhangra dancing to the sound of the dhol drum. Hosting the event will be David Silk (bass) with a full supporting cast of other truly wondrous musicians and fabulous guests. Licensed bar, optional curry available (price tbc).
