A very old friend of the Club, Simone is an Australian singer with an international reputation. With over 30 years in the “business” she has numerous gigs and TV appearances to her name, as well as successful seasons in the West End and hundreds of recordings for film soundtracks and other session work. She started performing in her teens, landing a theatre role with “One for the Money” & “Two for the Show”, that led to her combining song, dance and comedy into her repertoire. Simone eventually found herself in the UK with the singing/comedy trio “The Fabulous Singlettes” (organised by another very old friend of the Club, Naomi Eyers) that not only led to tours around the world, but also to a TV Series with the BBC and the start of Simone’s love of the UK, which culminated in her residing in London for more than eight years. During Simone’s time in London she found herself working with the likes of Anastasia, Stevie Wonder, and Marcia Hines and it was also during this period that Simone’s now long-standing relationship with “soul/funk” and the 606 Club(!) was born. Simone returned to Australia in 2007 where she now runs her own highly successful, well established, singing school as well as continuing to travel around the country, performing with and for many of the top “Aussie” artists as well as working with the contestants on the Australian equivalent of The Voice. Simone is not only at home at the 606, but completely in her element with “Soul” where she has established herself as a Funky force to be reckoned with! With her powerful, sensuous, voice she performs a remarkable jazz groove set and is very, very impressive. Also featured tonight will be her amazing band of some of the finest groove players in the UK including Dave Oliver-keyboard, Francis Hilton-bass, Paul Jones-drums and Kelly O’Brien-vocals. This will be Simone’s first gig in the UK for some time, so with this terrific line up who include between them work with the likes of Incognito, Mama’s Gun, Lisa Stansfield and Sigma I think it’s fair to say you can expect quite a party!
