The Elysian Singers, one of London's most adventurous choirs, are thrilled not only to present Faure’s astonishing Requiem but also the world premiere of a piece specially designed to accompany it.
‘Still the Sirens’ is the first major choral work by London-based composer Danyal Dhondy. A cycle of seven settings of poets including A.E.Housman, John Donne, Emily Dickinson and Maya Angelou, the piece is a meditation on the troubled times that we are living through and the power of human resilience. This new piece was commissioned from Danyal Dhondy by Making Music, with funding from the Nicholas Berwin Charitable Trust.

The programme also features one of Poluenc’s best-loved works, ‘Quatre motets pour un temps de penitence’, a setting of texts from the Holy Week offices.
