As innovators paving the way for the future of the creative industries, we are fierce supporters of women’s rights and gender equality in the creative sector. To celebrate the amazing contribution that women make to today’s music business, we are hosting a networking event featuring two panels of strong female figureheads representing all corners of the music industry, alongside performances from some of our best female talent.

Open to students, industry and those looking to enter the business, the networking event will be held at iconic independent music venue The Bedford in Balham from 14:00 until 17:00 Thursday 8th March (International Women’s Day).

Hosted by lecturers Kaya Herstad-Carney and Rasha Shaheen, the event will kick off with a killer performance from ACM pop-powerhouse act CHINCHILLA followed by a panel chaired by Kaya featuring Carly Wilford (DJ, Presenter and Creator) discussing “how can we actively promote gender equality in the live music scene.”

After another top quality performance from ACM rap and hip-hop songstress LUNA, Rasha will chair a panel discussing “the struggles women face in the music business and how can we change and address these issues going forward.” Featuring alumna Kelli Slade (Creative Synchronisation Manager at Kobolt Music), alumna Lucy Tallent (Head Of Development at XVII Music Group) and alumna Atlanta Cobb (Crown Talent Group) among many other talented women working in today’s music industry.

Each panel will have a Q&A section where the audience can get involved and ask their burning questions to inspirational panelists.

After the final panel, ACM act Bethia Ward will perform before informal networking in the front bar.
