The Soul Exchange is a new Northern Soul night coming to West London’s very own Notting Hill Arts Club this April, the 12th to exact. Curated by West’s homegrown DJ and radio presenter Scarlett O’Malley, The Soul Exchange is this corner of London’s answer to a much-needed revitalisation of subculture in music. The Northern Soul scene having started in the 60s in places like Blackpool and Wigan, has slowly trickled down through the cracks and ended up in London in 2018 with a young collective of DJs pumping life into its orifices. Expect everything from the underbelly of soul to Motown classics All. Night. Long… well 'til 2am (then to whatever afters take your fancy).
As everyone knows Thursday has been the new Friday, which has always been the new Saturday, for a good few years now. So, press those trousers, dust off your dancing shoes and get ready to pull a sickie because we’re getting down and dirty with the best of them. We’ve got resident Scarlett O’Malley headlining the night with her 45s box full of Northern gems, alongside West Yorkshire's favourite Poppy Turner, major selector DJ OJO and Northern Soul heavyweights Deptford Northern Soul Club keeping the faith and the dancefloor alive.
Doors open at 10pm sharp, so make sure your front and centre to avoid queuing and that you’re donning only your finest flares and a smile, because no one likes a miserable c*nt.
