On Earth Day,Kagyu Samye Dzong London (“KSD London”) Tibetan Buddhist Meditation Centre for World Peace and Health will be hosting a day of activities, talks and films activities to inspire the local community to end plastic pollution and protect the environment in daily life.

It has been estimated that by 2050 there will be more plastics in the ocean than fish. The event will highlight how our daily decisions affect the environment and will highlight simple ways the community can have a positive impact. Most people are familiar with the three R’s: reduce, reuse, recycle, but are less familiar with refusing, or removing plastics. For example, refusing straws is one way individuals can easily contribute to lessening the estimated 550 million plastic straws that are used in the UK each day. Removing plastics that you come across during a walk is another way to help.

Come along and share your environmental aspirations at an Open Mic Poetry session, inspire others by making a public commitment to help the environment and learn about living sustainably through a series of talks and workshops.

Speakers include:
Satish Kumar - Peace and the Environment
Lama Zangmo - Buddhism and Ethics
Kevin Mascarenhas - Permaculture
Robbie Lockie - Food & Diet
Maria Arceo - Art & Oceans
Barnaby Shaw - Urban Beekeeping
David Longden - Green Energy

There will also be opportunities to: learn about environmentally friendly products and services from local green businesses, watch films about taking action locally, eat delicious vegan food, plus some fun activities for kids and adults.
