Sri Lankan Supperclub comes to Brother Marcus, Balham!

Paradise launches their first Supperclub in celebration of Sinhalese New Year

Inspired by the vibrant culture of Sri Lanka, Paradise is a new pop-up celebrating the flavours, culture and colours found on the tropical tear drop island. With their debut residency taking place in Balham’s favourite brunch and supper-club haunt, Brother Marcus, in celebration of the Singhalese New Year. Paradise will be launching their first After Dusk residency on the 13th of April.

Paradise is a collective of Sri Lankan chefs; drawing upon generations of family recipes, street food stalls and buzzing coffee shops, from bustling Colombo to food rich Jaffna. Together, they will bring a creative take on the real taste of Sri Lanka, with a menu that shows a creative take on the traditional, using produce naturally found on the South Asian island.

The journey starts with street food favourites found in cities and villages around the island, including a twist on the traditional, beetroot string hoppers & kiri hodi made with white rice vermicelli noodles, market vegetables, creamy coconut gravy, topped with Maldive fish. Traditionally served at breakfast, Paradise’s signature dish is a fermented pancake made with rice flour and coconut milk, a perfectly poached egg in the middle and served with vibrant sweet onion sambol and spicy onion and chilli relish. Rice and curries are to be eaten together with your table, showcasing an array of different spices and vibrant flavours, from sticky and spicy devilled Bentota prawns to the slow cooked Negobo beef curry, that bursts with flavour. For dessert, Paradise will serve a selection, including a salted cashew & kuthul treacle mini magnum and their grandmother’s secret recipe, Archchi’s love cake.

The Brother Marcus boys will be on hand to serve their specially created drinks list, using the local’s favourite drink, Arrack, shipped directly from Colombo, as well as their signature Brother Marcus Espresso Martini.

Paradise at Brother Marcus will take guests on a journey through the tropics of the teardrop island.
