Best Fest

Best Fest is a new, dynamic festival of groundbreaking independent film taking place across the EU & North America. Born to out a desire to find the largest audience for independent content Best Fest is running throughout the UK and US between May and December 2018. Best Fest believes amazing stories demand theater exhibition and aims to bring indie cinema the wide audience it deserves.

Every month Best Fest showcases a double feature at a new location: a major indie film from the festival circuit (released less than 12 months prior) alongside a newly discovered gem submitted by an emerging filmmaker. Best Fest champions bold, fearless cinema made by outspoken, original filmmakers: genre-bending and -breaking movies which map uncharted cinematic territory.

For 2018 Best Fest is proud to be screening Sebastián Lelio’s critically adored A Fantastic Woman. Following Marina (Daniela Vega), a transgender woman staggered by the death of her older boyfriend, the movie offers a bold and moving study of love, loss, and identity.

Described by The Hollywood Reporter as being “Shocking and enraging, funny and surreal, rapturous and restorative … a film of startling intensity,” and by Vulture as being “an agonizing tale of grief and otherness,” A Fantastic Woman joins Best Fest hot from an astonishing year of accolades.

Among its many laurels, the movie won the Teddy Award for Best Feature Film and the Silver Bear for Best Screenplay at the Berlin International Festival in 2017 and more recently it won Best International Film at the Independent Spirit Awards and the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film.

Best Fest will be bringing this magnificent movie, and other indie treasures, to London on May 31st, Birmingham in June, York in July, New York in August, Denver in September, Kansas City in October, San Francisco in November and Los Angeles in December.
