Wealthy Antonio borrows money from Shylock, promising a pound of his flesh should he default. But events conspire against him and he cannot repay the loan and his friend, Bassanio, risks everything in the hope of winning the hand of Portia in marriage. Shakespeare’s great courtroom drama is by turns thrilling, funny, romantic and unsettling.

This event will go ahead in all weather unless it is unsafe to do so. Please wear appropriate clothing. Seating is not provided, please bring a low backed chair or rug should you wish.
