FORT presents: Raving Iran Screening & Party

Londoners will get the chance to see a rare film screening of the highly acclaimed Raving Iran next month (May).

Raving Iran is a documentary directed and filmed by German film-maker Susanne Meures. It follows Anoosh and Arash, aka Blade & Beard, two DJs at the centre of Tehran’s underground techno scene. Tired of hiding from the police and in the face of dangerous oppression, the fearless duo organise one last techno rave in the desert. When Anoosh is arrested, it seems that all is lost. But then Blade & Beard are invited to play at a huge techno festival in Switzerland.

Released in 2016, the film has been widely praised.

Billboard Magazine wrote: “The Western dance scene may not be perfect, but it's easy to forget how fortunate we are to dance and party as one out in the open for all to see. Raving Iran reminds us of the challenges facing our brothers and sisters in other parts of the world, but it's also a reminder that inspirations and dreams still roar in the face of oppression.”

The film will be followed by DJ sets from an all-female DJ lineup featuring Amy Alford (KMAH Radio) and Malissa (Sisu).
