To celebrate the release of The Mozartists’ Mozart in London on Signum Classics we have joined with Gramophone Magazine to host an exclusive London pre-release event with Ian Page, the conductor and artistic director of Classical Opera and The Mozartists.

Presenting an unprecedented survey of Mozart’s childhood visit to London in 1764-65, Mozart in London treats the listener to a wide-ranging programme - including Mozart’s remarkable first symphony (composed when he was eight years old), along with his two other London symphonies and his first concert aria. The repertoire also explores music that was being performed in London during Mozart’s stay, including works by J. C. Bach, Thomas Arne, Abel, Pescetti, Perez, George Rush and William Bates, many of which have not previously been recorded.

The evening will feature Ian Page in conversation with Editor in Chief of Gramophone magazine, James Jolly about the music and Mozarts early life – as well as a live performance of “Cara la dolce fiamma” from J. C. Bach’s Adriano in Siria sung by soprano Eleanor Dennis, who also sings the aria on the CD.
