Capital Theatre Company presents "Skirmishes" by Catherine Hayes, "an astonishing play, full of insight, humanity and gallows humour", about two sisters squabbling at their dying mother's bedside. By turns grimly funny and unbearably sad, the play is a small-scale, intimate and, above all, recognisable family portrait that turns a potentially morbid subject into a gentle, moving and surprisingly funny account of parental decline and sibling rivalry.
