Sounds Like Teen Spirit is a new open mic night devoted to your cringeworthy teenage musings.

Think of it as a festival for juvenilia — your childhood poems, raps, diary entries, doodles, videos, GCSE art pieces, Facebook statuses, Bebo quizzes, texts mined from your old Nokia 3310, MSN transcripts, personal statements and burn books.

Think big. Dig up your pink padlocked diary, get the teenage band back together, revisit [email protected], scroll all the way back to 2008 on your FB chat but MOST IMPORTANTLY skedaddle on down to Upstairs at The Ritzy at 8.00pm on May 31st.

There’ll be wiggle room for impromptu performances on the night — feel free to make a last minute grab for that diary on D-day — but we’d prefer to guarantee you a spot on the bill. Put your name down in advance by emailing [email protected] Just tell us how long you’ll need and what manner of glorious acne-filled, WKD-fuelled content you’ll be regaling us with. If your idea requires sound equipment, let us know and we’ll see what we can do.

Let’s face it. We know you were a tragic teenager. We know you shrieked “nobody understands!” as you left the house for an under-18s nappy night where you sucked pre-pubescent face in neon skinny jeans, trying desperately to activate a glow stick. We know you wrote an elaborate diary entry about it when you got home, Mr Brightside still ringing in your ears. We also know that that diary entry is pure, unadulterated gold dust. The world deserves to hear it.

Make Thursday May 31st a night to remember things you’d rather forget.
