Premium Japanese gin Roku is hosting an in-store tasting at your local Waitrose store in King’s Cross on 4th June, 7pm.

Roku is created by the iconic House of Suntory, and is the first gin from the Japanese distiller. Master Distiller Kazuyuki Torii has been perfecting the spirit for around 30 years, and Roku uses six botanicals that can only be found in Japan.

The immersive and interactive tasting masterclass will share the heritage and craft behind Roku, whilst also offering an insight into the unique botanicals: sakura flower, sakura leaf, yuzu peel, sencha tea, gyokuro tea and sansho pepper. Attendees will also learn about The House of Suntory, the concept behind the hexagonal bottle, as well as what to pair the spirit with.

Taking inspiration from the Japanese tradition of ‘Omotenashi’ - a philosophy which emphasises hospitality – guests will be able to sample the signature Roku Gin & Tonic which is served with ice and six hand-cut slivers of fresh ginger to accentuate the Yuzu top notes within the gin. An opportunity not to be missed!

It’s expected to be a very popular event, so book early. Tickets cost just £10 and can be purchased online. The session runs for 1 hour 30 minutes, and included in the price is a goody bag from Roku.
