West African Drumming & Dance Summer Holiday Workshop (one day)

What is it about?
An introduction to the energetic style of West African drumming and dance with 100% participation. Originating from west Africa the djembé drums have sonorous tonal qualities and are relatively simple to play, the workshop will quickly create a hypnotising beat and every participant will have a djembé for the entire session. The group will learn a piece and then respond to aural and visual cues with an opportunity to perform a solo. When the group have created their sound they will learn about dance from Senegal, Gambia and Guinea. The group will incorporate the large and balletic moves with their personal soundtrack and use their new skills to perform a vibrant scratch performance to family and friends.

Who is it for?
The workshop is for children aged 7-11 years old. All places must be booked in advance. No grown-ups allowed!
