AUTUMN STAMPEX INTERNATIONAL 2018

Stampex International is the largest philatelic exhibition in the UK, showcasing a masterful presentation of collected stamps from stamp dealers and specialists from all over the world. Sponsored by Stanley Gibbons, the event runs over 4 days during which philatelists and stamp enthusiasts come together to share their passion for the hobby and learn more about stamps. The show is organised biannually by The Philatelic Traders’ Society Limited (PTS), offering a wonderful opportunity for the whole family to take interest in one of the oldest pastime activities in the world.

Autumn Stampex International 2018 will take place at the Business Design Centre (BDC) in Islington, London from 12th-15th September 2018.

For Children
Through stamps, children can learn facts about history, geography, sports, animal and plants, space exploration and so many more topics. At Stampex International, charity Stamp Active will offer a variety of activities for children throughout the week, to help them understand more about stamps and incite their interest in the hobby of stamp collecting. This season the theme is Britain at War. The team will also set up a free area and host a live auction for kids on Saturday.

Court of Honour
Autumn Stampex International 2018 will showcase the award-winning Wildings collection, owned by former President of The Royal Philatelic Society Frank Walton RDP FRPSL. It is a series of definitive postage stamps featuring a photograph of Queen Elizabeth II taken by Dorothy Wilding. Wilding was the first lady to receive a Royal Warrant to be the official photographer for the King & Queen. This portrait of the Queen was used on definitive stamps from 1952 –1967. These were the first high value stamps and also the first to have regional emblems – in this case, flowers. In 1967 a decision was made by The Stamp Advisory Committee for The Queen’s portrait to be changed due to the angle of the photo and the stamps went out of circulation in 1967.

Entry to Stampex International is FREE and all visitors may purchase a show-specific Limited Edition Smilers Sheet and a free showguide and postcard; all of which make lovely keepsakes and souvenirs and are highly collectable pieces.
