Brancott Estate Wines, the first wine producer of Sauvignon Blanc in Marlborough, New Zealand brings the real vineyard experience to London’s main train stations

The world’s first train station vineyard
75ft of living vines
Kings Cross, Waterloo, London Bridge and Paddington commuters will be able to visit the vineyard and have a 100ml glass of wine

Brancott Estate Wines, the first to plant Sauvignon Blanc in Marlborough, have listened to commuters’ cries about the ongoing train delays and hope to help them make the most of their extra waiting time with the world’s first ever train station vineyard! Travelers can escape the crowds and enjoy a free glass of wine amongst the vines before heading off on the rest of their journey.

75ft of living vines will create a micro vineyard similar to the Brancott Estate Wines vineyards grown in Marlborough, New Zealand, 11,500 miles away. With 50 separate vines, standing at over 7ft tall each, the micro-vineyards are as just as unexpected in the train station as they were in Marlborough back in 1973. People thought Marlborough was too cold to grow Sauvignon Blanc, but that didn’t stand in the way of Brancott Estate Wines. Now, Brancott Estate Wines is offering travelers the chance to taste the original Sauvignon Blanc – a vibrant, zesty wine with notes of melon and passionfruit – on their way through London’s busiest stations.
The micro-vineyard will launch at Kings Cross Station on 17th July and re-appear at Waterloo Station on 19th July, London Bridge Station on 21st July and London Paddington on 24th August.

With timetabled trains continuing to be cancelled, delayed or disrupted, the Brancott Estate Wines vineyards will be a welcome retreat for those who have already endured nearly three months of upset. Brancott Estate Wines will also be running a competition for commuters to get involved and have the chance to win some award-winning wines.

Maria Huete, Wine Ambassador for Pernod Ricard UK, said: “We’re really proud of the Brancott Estate Wines heritage and being the first to create Marlborough’s Sauvignon Blanc. We thrive on the unexpected and can’t wait for our micro-vineyards to surprise travelers on their way through the stations. Definitely not what you’d expect!”

The micro-vineyards will be open for commuters from 8am where they can speak to wine experts, wander through the vines and take advantage of the visually stunning ‘Selfie Spots’. Samples of Brancott Estates Wines famous Sauvignon Blanc will also be handed out 12pm - 2pm and 4pm – 8pm to give travellers a taste of the unexpected on their way home.
