The Art Car Boot Fair celebrates its fifteenth anniversary this year with the launch of an additional event – the Art Cycle Basket Fair.

The Art Cycle Basket Fair will involve artists bringing everything they need by bicycle, cargo bike or electric bike and will feature work by the art stars of the future, many of whom have been recommended by Art Car Boot Fair veterans such as Sir Peter Blake, Gavin Turk, Rachel Howard and Mat Collishaw.

Says Karen Ashton, the fair’s founder: ‘The Art Cycle Basket Fair came about because we are embracing a more eco-friendly future and also our Cycle Editions can access a greater range of interesting urban spaces. This new event will celebrate Art on a Bicycle, the Art of the Bicycle and the Bicycle as Art. It seemed a fun way to develop our key ethos of bringing art to the people, and to offer people the chance to snap up an artwork by up-and-coming and emerging artists.’

Both fairs will take place at Granary Square, King’s Cross, on Sunday 16 September 2018, 12 – 6pm, on and around the piazza outside Central Saint Martins college of art. The venue has been made possible by the King’s Cross Central Limited Partnership.

Artists lined up for the main fair include: Billy Childish, Blek le Rat, Philip Colbert, Juno Calypso, Keith Coventry, Gavin Turk, Pam Hogg, Ben Eine, Polly Morgan, Rachel Howard, Mat Collishaw, HelenA Pritchard, Geraldine Swayne, Boo Saville, Christian Furr, Mr Bingo, Marcus Harvey, Colin Self, Nick Walker, Rob & Nick Carter, Toby Mott, Pure Evil and Charming Baker.

All of the artists will be personally pitching up and selling their original, exclusive artworks at astonishing just-for-the-day prices from the back of cars, from stalls and from bicycle panniers, baskets and trailers. The theme of the main fair will be ‘The Cross’.

Black Door Agency will also present The Art of the DJ with Andrew Weatherall, Justin Robertson, The Kevin Rowland DJ Show, Miranda Sawyer & Lulu Levan.

DJ appearance times:

12.00pm – 2.00pm: Justin Robertson
2.00pm – 3.00pm: Andrew Weatherall
3.00pm – 4.15pm: The Kevin Rowland DJ Show
4.15pm – 6.00pm: Miranda Sawyer & Lulu Levan
