Unsigned bands from Liverpool, Birmingham, Cardiff and London are competing for the chance to win a career changing prize in the O’Neill’s Sound of Summer competition final.

The incredible prize package includes a slot at a leading UK festival, a UK tour of O’Neill’s, precious studio time as well as £5,000.

Regional finals have been taking place in O’Neill’s across the country for the past two months, with unsigned talent competing for a spot in the coveted final.

Finalists include; Tara Livingstone, a singer-songwriter who relocated to London from Spain to pursue a career in music; The Ellipsis, a four-piece indie band from Coventry; as well as Black Market, a six-piece rock band from Watford specialising in high-energy songs fused with electronic music.

The full line-up of finalists are: Johnny Bee from Liverpool, Ellipsis from Birmingham, Sirpico from Cardiff, Dominic Hook from Reading, Black Market from Watford and Tara Livingstone from London.

Sound of Summer is an annual competition to find some of the UK’s best unsigned music talent. The grand final will take place at O’Neill’s Wardour Street in London on 23rd August, and the bands are expected to bring in local support from across the country.

Marketing Manager Nicola Cope said: “The regional heats have shown there’s some incredible unsigned talent emerging, and it’s been tough competition for those few spaces in the final. We’re looking forward to a fantastic night on the 23rd as our worthy finalists compete for this epic prize.”

O’Neill’s Wardour Street, home to the Flamingo Club in the 1960’s, has hosted some of the world’s biggest superstars. Big names including the Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac and Rod Stewart have performed here, and it was the backdrop to David Bowie’s MTV video ‘Blue Jeans’, as well as the recording location of Georgie Fame’s the Night train.
