Ian Hislop and Nick Newman have been writing together for 30 years, including work for Spike Milligan, Spitting Image, films and plays. In 2013, they wrote the critically acclaimed The Wipers Times (BBC2) and adapted it for the stage where it’s toured round the country ever since. It returns to the West End this Autumn.

Now they’re back with a new play. As Trial by Laughter opens in Newbury, join them to learn how they write together. Where do they find their ideas? Who does the editing? Who writes the jokes? What does it take to be a successful writing double act?
