Flotsam Sessions Present: Tashkezar & The Sages

An evening of music from around the world with Flotsam Sessions aboard The Golden Hinde .

Tashkezar are a seven-piece superband from across the UK, Egypt, France and Uzbekistan. Their transcultural vibes and explosive fusion sound takes in powerful Mediterranean rhythms, mesmerising Arabic vocals and melodies, punchy Balkan horns and floor-shaking bass lines. Led by the wonderful Mariam Ali, an Egyptian-Montenegrin singer/songwriter who will also be leading Flotsam Sessions' November workshop.

With a basis in traditional East Asian music The Sages - ???? draw inspirations from different music elements throughout time and history. Through original composition and adaption of traditional music the band explores the concepts between “East” and “West”, cultural identity and musical genres. Led by Yi Jia and Peadar Connolly-Davey fresh from Flotsam Sessions' October 3rd workshop.
