LDO celebrates 5th birthday with large-scale cake display

Next week, to celebrate its 5th birthday, London Designer Outlet (LDO) in Wembley Park will be unveiling a collection of London’s most celebrated landmarks re-imagined as large-scale cakes.

Already firmly on the map as the capital’s leading destination for fashion and lifestyle bargains, the LDO building will be displayed alongside the much-loved London Eye, iconic Big Ben and a 5ft tall red telephone box – with everything made out of cake!

Taking over 200 hours to make and created in painstaking detail by well-known food artist Prudence Staite, over 155 kg of sponge, chocolate and icing have been used to create these famous landmarks, to celebrate LDO’s 5th birthday in style.

Shoppers and visitors can see the intricate cakes up close for themselves at LDO when they are unveiled on Wednesday 24th October. The LDO cake – made entirely from vegetarian ingredients - will be cut and distributed to 300 members of the public on Wednesday morning, with a further 500 complimentary birthday cupcakes available on Thursday and Friday.

The cake sculptures will be on display from 11am on Wednesday 24th October until 7pm Friday 26th October.
