Discover modern art and design at the home of contemporary art in London’s St James’s in partnership with Wallpaper* on one of three self-guided walks on 17 and 20 October.

St James’s is rich in cutting edge institutions and tucked away galleries, with spaces by some of Britain’s best talents and collections. With major new autumn exhibitions in full swing, there is no better time to discover its treasures.

Start the walk with a welcome drink at the globally renowned auction house, Christie's. This is followed by an introductory briefing by Wallpaper’s commissioning editor. From here the walk flows through King Street and the surrounding St James's area:

Next, visit Stern Pissarro, whose eye-catching bronze anodised aluminium cladding building has become a landmark of St James's Street, currently displaying their Post War and Contemporary exhibition.

On the corner of Arlington Street and Bennet Street find Skarstedt Gallery, who's unique relationship with artists allows it to present museum-quality exhibitions both on the primary and secondary markets, with the aim to create a dialogue between the generations.

White Cube Mason’s Yard, is the next stop being the first to give one person shows to many of the Young British Artists (YBAs), including Tracey Emin and Marc Quinn, should be visited for its cutting-edge art curated by art dealer Jay Jopling.

Exiting Mason's Yard onto Duke Street Sims Reed displays original prints from Pop Art pioneer Derek Boschier.

Thomas Dane Gallery, who are renowned within the contemporary art scene, will display a wide range of exhibitions from sculptures and paintings to video, film and photography that stays true to their association with 90s-era British Artists.

Visit David Gill Gallery next to be entranced by Cuban artist José Yaque’s paintings. ‘Kind of Blue’ is a collection of large-scale works, exploring the origin of colour.

The walk continues along the world famous Pall Mall, the "artist led" Alan Cristea Gallery will be displaying the work of Anni Albers, who is admired for her pioneering wall hangings and textile works.

Finally enjoy a final complimentary drink at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, in the revered bar at Rochelle's Canteen after exploring VERSION HISTORY, an expansive exhibition of new and recent work by Metahaven.
