The 606 Club’s Sunday lunch concerts often feature wonderful singers, performing timeless vocal-led jazz standards and repertoire from the Great American Songbook. For this London Jazz Festival show, we have asked three of our favourite vocalists, who are also old friends, to perform both separately and together with a shared rhythm section in what promises to be a delightful and fun-filled afternoon! Rachel Sutton trained at The Welsh College of Music and Drama and her background in theatre adds that extra dimension to her performance. With a rich tone and sense of swing, Rachel’s shows include standards and show tunes along with her own arrangements of more modern popular songs plus the occasional original. Her winning onstage persona will charm any audience! Inspired by the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone and Billie Holiday, Jo Harrop performs a beautiful, straight-ahead set of timeless jazz favourites. She includes appearances at the likes of the Jazz Cafe, Royal Albert Hall, the Sage Gateshead, Pizza Express, St. Martins In The Fields and Zedel and has been featured on Courtney Pines' Radio 2 show 'Jazz Crusade', Jazz FM and BBC Radio London. Eileen Hunter is not only a wonderful vocalist with a lovely, breathy delivery but also a highly accomplished musician, fluent on both piano and flute. Signed to Jive Records in 2003, just prior to the label’s acquisition by BMG, her first CD “I Miss the Sky” was eventually released through radio station Jazz FM. Eileen has worked at venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Regents Park Open Air Theatre as well as the 606 for many years, appearing most recently with her latest programme, "A Tribute to Blossom Dearie". “Rachel Sutton mixed 50s American swing with contemporary composition to great effect... soaring vocals” Jazz Journal; “[Jo Harrop]… A singing sensation… her voice is amazing…a class act” BeBop Spoken Here; “Eileen not only provides an inspiring vocal performance but she is an amazing musician” Jazz FM
