Surtaal presents Mon ka Sangeet

Come along for an evening of South Asian music, consisting of two key classical instruments, the sitar and tabla. The inimitable sounds of this gorgeous and traditional percussion and strings harmony are performed by Jonathan Mayer, the son of the late Kolkata composer John Mayer, on sitar and Yousuf Ali Khan on tabla. Both are classically trained and highly acclaimed and will be playing raaga based pieces and tabla solos.

Surtaal organises and presents a variety of high quality programmes concerning South Asian music. They work with a number of talented artists who perform in varied programmes, often commissioned, and include instrumentalists of sitar, sarod, tabla and singers of classical, traditional, folk and modern songs and also dancers of different styles.
