Natnandan presents Naari O Raakkhushi (Woman: An Altered Image)

This play exposes the social, cultural, and psychological conflicts faced by women in our society, and particularly those who suffer abuse through marginalization, prostitution and human trafficking. It tells the harrowing story of one such victim who has endured violence and rape, but seizes a ray of hope when she becomes a mother herself. With a future to fight for, can she help to change society, can she realise her dreams, and will her crusade for dignity and respect have any results?

Natnandan is a non-profitable voluntary organisation which plays an active role in spreading messages through theatre and raising awareness of a range of contemporary issues such as violence, rape and child rape, trafficking, prostitution, gender discrimination, drug addiction, the environment and extremism/religious fundamentalism. Natnandan with its charity wing 'Colour of Paradise' is involved with social activities, such as helping burn/acid victims, abandoned children, deprived and lost people, and Rana Plaza victims as well as raising awareness about AIDS among the sex workers, and coordinating a blood donation programme.

This production is supported by The Ministry of Cultural Affairs in Bangladesh.
