Limpet Space Race live at St. Margaret's House Chapel

A new duo mishmashing jazz, pop and folk to bring you lush, glitchy songs and experimental noises.

Limpet Space Race are Niko O’Brien and Hannah (Jakes) Jacobs, who currently live in Oxford running a recording studio, eco music festival and Upcycled Sounds Record label. Niko is a sound engineer for film, documentary and music, and spends most of his time chasing strange noises from surround sound installations to recording in sewers and up mountains. Jakes is a musician who accidentally founded a sustainability organisation, and has just escaped back to a life of arranging, producing, wonky time signatures and feminist sea shanties.

Their band involves a lot of multitasking with vocals, keyboard, guitar, drums, homemade instruments and random percussive junk. They like messing around with strange sounds, rhythms and percussive junk, and even have a spinning surround sound system in their live set!

For fans of Joan as Policewoman, Joni Mitchell, Jon Hopkins, Becca Stevens, Rachael Dadd, Bibio, Tame Impala, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Pentangle, Juana Molina and Dirty Projectors.

If the music thing doesn’t work out, Plan B is to get a limpet into space.

Now the support act is a bit of a secret so our lips are sealed. What we can you tell is that the act has been featured in The Guardian's Future 50 with BBC Radio 6 saying '‘sure to stop you in your tracks…Really is so beautiful…" and Loud and Quiet Magazine saying "soul shifting... This is mature, refined songwriting of the highest calibre.'' Rest assured, this is one support act, you have to arrive on time for.
