From Friday 30th November - Sunday 9th December 2018 British artist Ant Carver will be exhibiting brand new work in a solo show at Hoxton Basement.

Fresh off showing with Well Hung Gallery at this year’s Moniker Art Fair, Carver’s latest solo outing will present 11 new paintings in a distinctive style familiar to street art followers. Contrasting vibrant, abstract spray paint backgrounds with highly detailed, monochromatic portraiture, Carver’s striking and distinctive works have appeared on walls from New York to Barcelona and at events including Bristol’s UpFest. Recently, he was selected to auction a piece for Art on a Postcard, raising money for The Hepatitis C Trust.

For his latest exhibition, titled ‘Not For Us To Say’, the East London based 27-year-old embraces the ambiguity of meaning in portraiture. The appeal of the form, he says, is that the viewer’s emotional response to the work isn’t determined by ‘a piece of text on the wall beside the painting’. It’s an exercise in letting go of any illusions of control, and a fitting sentiment for an artist who has largely built an audience through disseminating work on public walls and social media.

Ant Carver will showcase a series of new pieces depicting models Tashi Rodriguez, Portia Prince, and Shannon Nutt, based on original photos by Marc Hayden.

This upcoming show will run from 30th November – 9th December, 2018, in Hoxton Basement, 12-18 Hoxton Street, London, N1 6NG.
