Nigel Price is a highly skilled guitarist as well as an accomplished composer whose swinging bebop approach combined with flawless control is a delight to hear. In a career spanning over 25 years, highlights include a support show for Gladys Knight at The Royal Albert Hall and an appearance on Van Morrison’s recent record "Keep Me Singing". He has played on more than 50 albums, spent ten years with acid jazz outfit the Filthy Six, was a member of James Taylor’s jazz/funk band for 3 years and performed with ground-breaking American producer/composer David Axelrod. Lately, Nigel is also well known to 606 audiences for his work with the John East Project. As leader, his own Organ Trio featuring renowned Hammond player & keyboardist Ross Stanley has recorded five albums including their latest, “Heads & Tales Volume 2”, which will be the mainstay of the set list this evening (along with new tunes). Famously one of the hardest working musicians in the business, Nigel’s last UK tour comprised 56 dates, only to be met and exceeded by his current itinerary comprising 60 shows in all! It is all the more remarkable therefore that this is Nigel’s first appearance at the 606 leading his own band, which will feature, in addition to Ross Stanley, his regular collaborators Vasilis Xenopoulos (sax) and Steve Brown (drums). Winners of ‘Best Ensemble’ in the 2010 APPJAG awards and ‘Best Small Group’ in the 2017 British Jazz Awards, this foursome is truly a force to be reckoned with!

“Very few players could manage playing as fluent, imaginative and technically impeccable guitar as Price” Evening Standard; “For brilliance of execution I can’t imagine anyone surpassing either set, but this is not just for guitar buffs. Inventiveness, originality & ensemble playing are terrific too” Guardian;“[Price] Ace guitarist. Full blooded, hard swinging solos” Evening Standard; “Xenopoulos...One of the most fiery...saxophonists around” The Times
