Having met all working in an art supply shop in central London, the Some Bodies Collective was born out of the desire ‘to do something more for ourselves, by doing more for each other’. They are proud to announce their breakout exhibition, ‘Bodies’, which will feature brand new artworks by 12 emerging artists from diverse backgrounds. This exhibition will run Saturday, 24 November (private view with limited free drinks) and Sunday, 25 November 2018 (free and open to the public) at STYX multipurpose arts warehouse in Tottenham Hale, London.

'Bodies’, will be reflective of the groups valuing of diversity and the necessity for different voices to be in dialogue with each other. Featuring brand new works across the fields of painting, photography, illustration, sculpture and performance from 12 up and coming artists whose influences intersect across the lines of gender, race, sexuality, cultural and national identity. They’re backed by a range of experience across exhibitions, publications, activism, entrepreneurship, radio/television/fashion show appearances and performances as public personas.

Using the unique multipurpose arts warehouse to its full potential, accompanying the visual arts exhibition will be a variety of live musical performances on the terrace stage throughout both days as well as an interactive collaborative drawing project for guests to take part in.

‘This isn’t some white-walled off private event, this is by us and for people like us, the kind of art we’re desperate to see, London, in all its grit and glory.’

Bodies
Personal, Restrictive, Communal, Liberating, Temporary.
‘We both define and are defined by our bodies. They house our personal experiences and collective frameworks for understanding. This exhibition invites a collective of multi disciplinary artists to explore and share their diverse experiences of embodiment.'
