The portrayal of Angels, often the loveliest images in European art, have been a constant motif throughout art history. In this talk we will explore the roots of angelic iconography from the earliest sources and trace their portrayal from the early renaissance to the 21st century. As messenger, guide, protector or soldier, angels have reflected changing religious theories and artistic developments.
