Following classical training in her school and then college years, where she gained a BA (Hons) Music Degree and Advanced Acting Diploma at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, Lizzie's professional musical journey began with choirs and musical theatre. However, a spell with some contemporary Soul, Groove and Blues bands soon changed all that. Gaining inspiration from this new musical exposure her voice evolved from a classical soprano into the powerful, show-stopping, instrument she now undoubtedly possesses. These days her deeply soulful voice, warm persona and infectious performance style reflects her many musical influences that include Aretha Franklin, James Brown, The Jacksons, Etta James, Stevie Wonder & Otis Redding. Now a highly regarded and in-demand session singer she includes work with the likes of Carleen Anderson, Marcella Detroit, Mica Paris, Jocelyn Brown, Pee Wee Ellis, Boy George and Belinda Carlisle on an impressive and extensive CV encompassing stage, TV and radio. Probably best known at the Club as the vocalist with saxophonist Dave Lewis's band "1UP" (ah, that singer...) more recently Lizzie has stepped in to the limelight in her own right. With her own great band and a recently released CD "Set Me Free" she is without doubt starting to make significant waves on the UK scene. Tonight she will performing, in her own inimitable way, a mix of classic Soul standards that have inspired her over the years as well as showcasing some of her own, really excellent, originals. Accompanying her on this musical journey will be her stellar band including Roger Evan-piano/keyboard, Mo Nazam-guitar, Carl Stanbridge-bass; Jack Pollitt-drums and Johann Ting-percussion/vocals. We love Lizzie here, she really is quite special. Highly recommended.
