Join City of London Sinfonia in a musical exploration of one of the most diverse and fascinating natural environments in the world.

The performance begins with something a bit different. You – yes, you – and your fellow audience members will start playing sound recordings of birdcalls from your phones, filling the Queen Elizabeth Hall with the sounds of Australian skies, before the Orchestra joins in from the stage. There’ll be other opportunities to “get your birdcalls on” throughout the performance.

'Sounds of the Outback' is inspired by Australian nature and birdsong: City of London Sinfonia and recorder virtuoso Genevieve Lacey perform excerpts of ornithologist Hollis Taylor’s 'Absolute Bird' series – modern interpretations of the Aussie aerial world – and an ethereal and haunting musical interpretation of Australia’s central, iconic landmark in 'Whistles and Whispers from Uluru'.
