It is Carnival time in Italy! Come and celebrate it the foodie way at Mora on 7Th March!

Carnevale is believed to have originated in Roman times when Saturnalia, the Saturn festival, and Lupercalia, the feast of the full moon, were celebrated. However, its pagan festivals and traditions were adapted to fit into the Catholic rituals, hence it is highly likely that the word “carnival” derives from the Latin carnem levare, because originally the expression indicated the banquet that was held the day before the start of the meat fasting, or Lent.

That is why pork-based dishes and fried sweets tend to be typical of this season. After all, Carnival is a celebration of excess, of abundance, of pleasure. The more transgression takes place, the better, in all fields, including food.

Italians love to socialise around food, and Carnival provides a great excuse to do just that.

We have been searching through regional Carnival recipes to create a tasty and rich special menu inspired by the tradition to celebrate this colourful, joyful time of the year at Mora.

Homemade lasagne with vegetables, ricotta, pecorino, eggs and tomato sauce

Secondo

Braciole alla napoletana
Beef rolls filled with pecorino, raisins and pine nuts in tomato sauce

Savoury semolina pie filled with vegetables and ricotta, provola and pecorino cheeses

This is a ticketed event. Places are limited and tickets are now available for purchase in advance at the restaurant or online via Eventbrite.

The event starts at 6 pm and will last for the whole evening. Please select your time of arrival when reserving your ticket to help us provide a good service to all guests.
