Bogdan Mihai Radu, 1st prize winner at last year’s Oxford International Art Fair, is to have his debut UK exhibition at the Romanian Cultural Institute's Brâncu?i Gallery. The exhibition will open with a drinks reception on the evening of 20th March, and continue until 12th April 2019.

A second exhibition and sale, as well as free-to-attend live painting sessions with the artist, are planned to take place in mid-May at W10 5SG: an eclectic art concept store in Notting Hill. I very much hope that you can attend these events, and wonder if they might work for an upcoming feature you have planned on the local arts scene or fun, free things to do around London?

A striking display that unites the floral repertoire familiar to the painter's Romanian audience with his lesser-known abstract expressionist works, the exhibition comprises twenty acrylic paintings from the enthralling ‘Searching for Life’ series. Among other themes, Bogdan’s latest collection bears witness to his experience of a viral infection which resulted in a three-year paralysis. Immobile and hospitalised, left alone with his thoughts and unable to know whether or not he would recover, the artist describes the creative process which led to his exhibition as “a catharsis, or, more precisely, a form of internal combustion”.
