About the event

Award-winning director and experienced mindfulness practitioner, Dominic Murphy creates a safe, inclusive, fun space to explore screen acting through mindfulness and method acting exercises.
All are welcome. Absolutely no acting experience or ambition required but professional actors find Dominic’s methods inspire and deepen their performances.

During his 30 years directing experience in Film, TV and Commercials. multiple award-winning film director Dominic Murphy has worked with a wide range of actors including Brad Pitt, Tom Hardy, and Carrie Fisher. He’s also worked with Jonathan Ross, Kate Moss, David Beckham and countless other celebrities. Perhaps just as importantly, Dominic has coached hundreds of non-actors who had never stepped in front of a camera to connect with their emotions and create authentic performances.

To deepen his understanding of naturalistic acting, Dom trained with renowned method acting coach Jack Waltzer, who developed his technique at the Actor’s Studio with America's foremost teachers of the Stanislavsky System.

Dom’s debut feature film White Lightnin’ premiered at The Sundance Film Festival and was selected for Berlin, Edinburgh and may other international festivals. It won Best Film at both Dinard and Mumbai International Film Festivals. Edinburgh IFF called it ‘jaw-dropping, a true original’. The Guardian called it ‘demented genius’. It made Mark Kermode’s Top Ten films of the year. Lead actor, Ed Hogg, won Best Actor at Mumbai IFF as well as a British Independent Film Awards nomination for Best Actor for his performance in the film. Dominic's first commercials campaign won a D&AD Pencil and further work won awards worldwide including two Cannes Gold Lions.
