Marking 20 years of one of literature’s best-loved children’s characters, a special pop-up shop dedicated to all things Gruffalo will open its doors for one week only in London’s Covent Garden starting from Saturday 25th May until Saturday 1st June 2019.
Spread over two magical floors the specially designed pop up shop will give Gruffalo fans a unique immersive experience. In addition to a dedicated retail space there will be arts and crafts, storytelling sessions and there will also be special appearances from the Gruffalo across the day.
The retail space will feature some of the enchanting range of Gruffalo books, games and toys, alongside exclusive products.
Downstairs will house a special cinema offering screenings of The Gruffalo and other classic specials based on the Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler books produced by Magic Light Pictures. Tickets for these screenings are free of charge but must be booked in advance.
The Gruffalo, first published in 1999, written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler is a ‘modern classic’ of children’s literature, adapted for both stage and screen and has been translated into 75 languages.
