In the lead up to the opening of The Moon exhibition at the National Maritime Museum, astronomers at the Royal Observatory will be pointing their 18-tonne telescope at our constant companion in this special summer moongazing event. Enjoy a live planetarium show with guidance on the Moon and stars from an astronomer before a chance to look through our largest Victorian telescope, the Great Equatorial Telescope. Here, weather permitting, you'll have the chance to see the Moon up close with craters, valleys and mountains, and find out more about the history of the Moon and our relationship with it through exploration.
