Join us for the highly anticipated launch of the Middle East’s cutting-edge satirical newspaper Al Hudood. Cunning, provocative and insightful, don’t miss this chance to hear more about the project from its founders and catch exclusive performances by Jowan Safadi and Bassem Youssef.

TALKS | MUSIC | SATIRE | POLITICS | COMMUNITY

Opening the event will be none other than founder Isam Uraiqat, who created the Onion-style newspaper in 2013 with a group of like-minded, light-hearted creatives and journalists using poignant satirical commentary laced with dark humour to comment on news and state of affairs in the Middle East.

Renowned Palestinian musician jowan safadi and his band will be performing songs from his new album as well as classics in a wide range of styles under his unique banner of ‘Free Arabic Rock’. Safadi is a multi-genre musician, singer, songwriter who has become celebrated for his iconic strand of sarcastic protest songs which give his work a rare and revealing edge.

Egyptian comedian Bassem Youssef, dubbed the Jon Stewart of the Arab world, will also be in attendance, making a sharp 15 minute appearance to tickle our funny bones. Youssef is one of the most influential and poignant satirists and political commentators from the Middle East who shot to fame with his satirical news TV show El Bernameg.

Please note that although Al Hudood newspaper is in Arabic, this event will be taking place entirely in English.

Al Hudood members are invited to join us for free.
All-non members can purchase their tickets through Rich Mix
