This June, join English Heritage at its first ever Pride event for an intimate, after hours evening at this Tudor-palace-turned-1930s-millionaire’s-mansion as the charity explores LGBTQ histories at Eltham Palace in Greenwich.

Wet your whistle on arrival with a complimentary cocktail, created exclusively by mixology experts Ben’s House, as you are entertained by a range of artistic and creative responses to the queer history of the palace itself, the interwar years and beyond.

Actors playing the inseparable John Seeley and Paul Paget, partners both in life and in work and architects of the striking Art Deco house, will regale you with stories of what life was like to be queer in the first half of the 20th century, the pioneering of Transgender operations and the general queerness of the time. Throughout the evening there will also be the chance to watch a Noel Coward Cabaret act, enjoy the melodies of Gin and Harmonics, an all-female LGBTQ choir, listen to a pianist performing on a Bechstein piano or put your best foot forward with swing dance lessons in the Great Hall and learn how to dance like a 1930s star.

Ben’s House will be on hand all night, with a bespoke collection of cocktails, based on the LGBTQ history of the palace and created with fresh ingredients from the palace’s own gardens.
