Join Dr Paul Rennie and Emma Mawdsley as they explore the work Abram Games created for the Army Bureau of Current Affairs.
During the Second World War, Abram Games created posters to remind soldiers what it was they were fighting for. Through this work, he offered a glimpse of the improved post-war society they could aspire to.
Dr Paul Rennie from Central Saint Martins will discuss these posters within their social and military context. He will demonstrate how their themes of education and social progress aligned with military objectives post-1941 and helped transform British society.
Emma Mawdsley, the lead curator of The art of persuasion: Wartime posters by Abram Games, will give an introductory talk and tour of the exhibition.
