Sublime and moving throughout, the Fauré Requiem is one of the best-loved pieces in the choral repertoire. The evening includes other short sacred works by Bach, Haydn, Mozart, Attwood and Elgar.
Ildiko Allen, soprano; Stephen Holloway, bass; James Orford, organ; Paul Ayres, conductor

City Chorus concerts are famously convivial – full of family, friends and supporters of the choir. At the interval and after there will be festive refreshments and even superb home baking! The evening will be great fun and we hope you will come and enjoy it with us.

Next year, 2020, is the choir's 100th anniversary and we have many special events planned, including our Centenary Concert on Friday 3 April, when we will be singing Mozart Coronation Mass and Handel Zadok the Priest at Southwark Cathedral.

What better time to join us! We hope you will come along to one of our Open Rehearsals in September.

We are a friendly, non-auditioning choir that performs a wide range of music, from sixteenth-century motets to modern choral compositions and arrangements.

Membership is open to all, at the discretion of our musical director. Some choral singing experience and music reading ability is advantageous, but not essential. All works are thoroughly rehearsed and sound files are available to help you learn the music. Our musical director Paul Ayres conducts and accompanies several choral groups in London and works extensively as a composer and arranger.

To find out more and for subscriptions costs please contact Dionne at [email protected]. We offer concessions for under 30s, those enjoying State benefits, and indeed, anyone of modest means who would find the full rates unaffordable. We want you to join!
