Fighting and suffering: Polish citizens during World War II

This pop-up exhibition marks the 80th anniversary of the invasion of Poland and the start of the Second World War.

Curated by the Museum of the Second World War in Gdansk - in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland - the exhibition tells the story of the Polish campaign at the start of the Second World War and the effect of the conflict on the people of Poland.

Using images from their collection, it depicts the exodus and extermination of many of Poland’s citizens, including the Jewish community.

Visitors can also learn about the formation of the Polish Army in the United Kingdom and France, and their contributions throughout the war. These included fighting in the Battle of Britain and helping to break the Enigma code.
